This watercolour and 24K gold leaf painting has been constructed over 4 layers of paper, each hand cut and assembled to create this reverse-relief painting.
A composition made up of many elements, the whole is more than the sum of its parts.
Painted using specialist Japanese watercolours on prized St. Cuthbert's Mill Saunders Waterford paper. Museum grade 24k gold leaf was applied entirely by hand.
