Fractals I

Fractals I

Framed original painting

'Fractals I' original watercolour on 640gsm cold pressed paper. Painted using specialist Japanese watercolours. Framed with solid oak wood, black core mount and glass.

This is a large scale watercolour painting on 640gsm cold pressed paper. I am interested in the flora and fauna that frame our lives, particularly the plants that largely go unnoticed, which if they were to disappear we would greatly mourn their absence. This is a choisya ternata plant or Mexican Orange Blossom, which has leaf patterns that grow according to the Fibonacci sequence, something which is so often found in Nature when you look more closely. These patterns, or 'Fractals' as they are otherwise known, have been found to reduce stress levels, and is one of the reasons why we enojy being outdoors immersed in Nature. I wanted to bring some of these benefits indoors by creating an everlasting green wall, one very large window onto the natural world.
