I am interested in the flora and fauna that frame our lives, particularly the plants that largely go unoticed, which if they were to dispappear we would greatly mourn their absence. This is a Viburnum Davidii plant which I discovered inconspicuously aligning the walkways of the Dyrham park estate in Gloucestershire. It has evergreen foliage and provdes cover for a variety of garden birds, with nectar-rich flowers and nutritious berries that appear from early to late summer. By highlighting this often overlooked plant, I am also exploring the incredible colour swatches of the natural world, that without fail always prove to tbe the most complimentary. Taken as a small cross-section of the great outdoors, this painting is intended to immerse the viewer in the relaxing greens and enlightening pinks and blues of Nature. There are no defined parameters to the painting, suggesting that the plant carries on beyond its visible borders.
 
Emma is renowned for her botanical paintings, and taught Botanical Watercolour at the Henley-on-Thames School of Art. Emma has also completed commissions for the Chelsea Flower Show.
