I am a contemporary artist specialising in bright, bold watercolours based on natural and botanical subjects. In my work I explore our relationship to Nature as well as to each other, especially the way we interact with one another individually as well as within communities. My background as a Painting Conservator guides my practice with a great knowledge of artist’s techniques, especially in the use of 24K gold leaf which is applied by hand. I use watercolours in a non traditional way, exclusively painting in Japanese watercolours and applying the paint in one continuous layer to maximise the impact of the palette. Last year I was invited to take part in the Art on a Postcard Summer Exhibition as an artist ‘whose work stands out as challenging conventions and breaking new ground’.

My work has been exhibited throughout the South East and I am represented by the Cambridge Contemporary Art Gallery.

I am thrilled to have been selected for Mission Gallery's 'Gyda'n gilydd / Together' exhibition which is on from 27 November 2021 - 08 January 2022 at their beautiful gallery in the Maritime Quarter in Swansea.

A selection of my paintings, drawings and hand gilded prints will be on display.

I was recently commissioned to paint this large scale watercolour of a single sweet pea. The finished work measured 1000 x 1000mm unframed, and was painted exclusively in Japanese watercolours. To read more about the making of this work and what the commission process involves, please read my blog post here.

I was honoured to have been invited to take part in the Art on a Postcard 3rd Annual Summer Auction, raising money for the Hepatitis C Trust.

Previous artists who have taken part are Damien Hirst, Gilbert and George, Peter Blake RA and Grayson Perry RA. I have created 4 original postcard sized watercolours with 24k gold leaf: 'Berry Special', 'Gold Leaf' and 'Nature versus/versus Nurture'. Lots 129 - 132 and can be viewed on the Art on a Postcard website.

My blog detailing the making of these works can be read here.

Renowned perfumer Ruth Mastenbroek approached me with their idea to create two original watercolours which would feature on their new limited edition candles. 100% of the proceeds from the sales of these candles will go to Our Front Line charity, who give round the clock mental health support to NHS key workers. Two new mood enhancing fragrances based on joy, hope and gratitude have been developed for the candles and they each feature my Rainbow and Sunshine paintings. Please visit their website for more details.

To help raise more funds, I created limited edition cards and prints from these two paintings. I am really happy to say that a fantastic £150 was raised for Our Front Line charity. A huge thank you to everyone who bought something!
